Traveling From UAE to Oman in 47 Minutes with New Project

To improve economic ties, the UAE’s Etihad Rail Company and Oman Rail Network will jointly construct 303 km of rail between the two countries for $3 billion.

Only 1 hour and 40 minutes will pass between Sohar and Abu Dhabi thanks to the passenger trains’ 200 km/h speed. It’ll just take 47 minutes to travel from Sohar to Al Ain. Up to 120 km/hr freight trains are planned.

With an investor based in Abu Dhabi named Mubadala Investment Corporation, both railroad firms inked a contract. The agreement will hasten the development of the UAE-Oman Rail Network and its implementation.

The ceremony was also attended by Suhail Al Mazrouei, the UAE‘s Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Ahmed Al Musawa Al Hashemi, the CEO of the Oman and Etihad Rail Company, and the company’s board of directors.

The project is anticipated to cut transportation costs and increase employment by stimulating the economy. Also, it will make both nations stronger rivals on the international stage and draw more tourists.
