Pakistan and Sri Lanka in talks for ODI series ahead of World Cup 2023

The Men in Green’s scheduled test to come to Sri Lanka in July may include ODIs, according to discussions between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Sri Lanka Cricket Board.

The coming World Cup in 2023, which is set to take place in India, and the necessity for teams to build momentum and prepare for the competition are thought to be the driving forces behind this decision.

High board officials apparently started the initial discussions, and discussions are still underway.

In July, Pakistan will go to Sri Lanka for a two-match Test series as part of the ICC Test Championship cycle.

Both boards could look into substituting Tests with ODIs or conducting 50-over matches in alongside the standard red-ball matches.

The boards might look into rescheduling the Test series during a different timeframe in the Test Championship calendar.

While the PCB has not yet decided whether to include one-day matches, both boards seem to understand the significance of the Test Championship.

The inclusion of one-day matches will give the teams a chance to practice and develop momentum before the World Cup.
