The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the due date for filing income tax returns in response to requests from trade organizations and tax bar organizations.
In response to requests from trade organizations and other tax bar groups, the FBR revealed in a statement late Saturday night that the deadline of September 30 had been extended up until October 31, 2023.
The bureau urged those who had not yet submitted their income tax returns to do so.
The business community demanded last month that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) extend the deadline for filing income tax returns until January 31, 2024.
Office holders from several trade associations stated in a statement that the deadline should be extended to allow for the simple filing of tax returns by the business community.
Malik Meher Ilahi of Markazi Tanzeem-i-Tajiran and Ghulam Bilal Javed of Traders Alliance Federation asked the federal government to extend the deadline from September 30 to January 31, 2024.
They claimed that the current financial crisis had made it difficult for the majority of business community members to file their tax returns by the deadline due to inflation’s severe impact on commercial activity.
