Shadab Khan, an all-rounder for Pakistan, expressed his thoughts on Babar Azam’s recent decision to give up the captaincy of the national cricket team in all formats.
In an exclusive conversation, Shadab conveyed his respect for Babar’s choice and his best regards.
The leg-spinner also had positive things to say about Shaheen Shah Afridi, the team’s newly addressed T20I captain.
“Look, Babar has resigned, and everyone is free to make their own decisions. We hope the best for him. It’s been a blast having him as Pakistan’s captain. Shaheen has taken on the role as of late, and we are happy about it.
We’ve seen Shaheen lead the PSL, and it feels fantastic. I’m thrilled to play under Shaheen’s captaincy, so let’s see how it goes our first time out. It will give you an indication of how much fun it is,” Shadab said.
After meeting with Zaka Ashraf, the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee, on November 15th, Babar resigned as captain.
Shan Masood was named the Pakistan Men’s Cricket Team’s Test captain after resigning, and the PCB chose Shaheen Shah Afridi as the team’s T20I captain.
As the Men in Green’s T20I captain, Shaheen’s first assignment will be to captain the team in a five-match T20 series against New Zealand, which is slated to take place from January 12 to January 21, 2024.
