According to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Bushra Bibi, the wife of former prime minister Imran Khan, has been fed “poisonous food” during her confinement. For the past six days, she appears to have been in severe discomfort. This has deeply alarmed the PTI.
A PTI spokesperson expressed serious concern in a statement released on Tuesday about what they called “serious threats” to Bushra Bibi’s life while in detention.
“Bushra Bibi’s health and life are being seriously endangered by the denial of her constitutional right to medical examination,” a spokesman for the PTI said.
Additionally, the party official claimed that Bushra Bibi’s family had been prohibited from seeing her, a move they believed to be against the jail rules and the Constitution. They claim that this restriction is a component of their “deliberate plan” to harm her.
“Despite the filing of a petition in the Islamabad High Court, the decision to keep Bushra Bibi in solitary confinement at the Bani Gala ‘sub-jail’ is a shameful and malicious attempt to undermine Imran Khan,” said a spokesperson.
According to him, Imran’s wife needs to be let to see her family doctor, and if Bushra Bibi suffers any kind of injury, the caretaker government and the jail officials will be held responsible.
“Bushra Bibi’s transfer request from Bani Gala to Adiala Jail should be expeditiously heard by the court, and orders for her transfer should be issued.” The spokeswoman said, “The former first lady’s health and life must be safeguarded, and the staff at the jail must feed her healthy food.”
