In May, consumers’ electricity bills would be reduced by Rs4.12 per unit compared to March.
As to a statement released by the Ministry of Power Division on Tuesday, a petition has been made to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) to decrease the fuel cost adjustment for May from Rs4.92 per unit to Rs2.94 per unit as compared to April.
In addition, the statement stated that as of April, the power tariff was lower than it was in March, dropping from Rs7.6 per unit to Rs4.92 per unit.
The government‘s efforts have resulted in the submission of a request to NEPRA for a third consecutive month, asking for a reduction in electricity prices, it continued.
Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, the minister of power, stated that citizens would benefit from lower fuel prices.
