WhatsApp introduces new feature for custom chat colours

Meta’s widely-used messaging app, WhatsApp, is introducing a new feature that will allow users to customize their chats with a variety of vibrant colors, enhancing the overall user experience.

This update shifts away from the standard dark green theme, providing a refreshed look for conversations.

According to Wabetainfo, the feature will be available in the upcoming WhatsApp for iOS 24.20.71 update.

Users will be able to choose from 20 different colors, greatly increasing their options for personalizing chat themes. In total, there will be 22 distinct themes, offering a more customized messaging experience.

Within the app settings, users can select a default chat theme for all conversations or opt for different themes for individual chats, allowing them to differentiate between personal, work, and group messages.

Additionally, WhatsApp will automatically assign a matching wallpaper to the chosen chat color, ensuring a cohesive visual experience.

However, these personalizations will only be visible to the user, leaving the appearance of chats on recipients’ devices unchanged.

This means that each person can maintain their own chat preferences without affecting others.

Currently, the feature is available to a select number of users through the App Store and the TestFlight app, specifically for those in the beta testing program.

As the rollout progresses, more iOS users can expect access to this update in the coming weeks.

This update reflects WhatsApp’s continuous efforts to boost user engagement and provide a more personalized messaging experience.
