An Additional District and Sessions Judge has extended Bushra Bibi’s interim bail in the Toshakhana fake receipts case until November 4. The court also granted her a one-day exemption from appearing in person, as reported by Express News.
During the proceedings, Barrister Salman Safdar informed the court that Bushra Bibi has been unwell since her release from jail.
The judge accepted her request for exemption and extended the interim bail. Safdar indicated that he would present arguments regarding the bail applications at the next hearing.
The court has adjourned the hearing on bail applications involving both the founder of PTI and Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana fake receipts case until November 4.
The founder of PTI has also sought bail in two other cases concerning vandalism and protests.
Toshakhana Fake Receipts Case
Former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, were charged in a fraud case registered at Islamabad’s Kohsar Police Station for allegedly submitting fake receipts related to the sale of state gifts, as reported by ARY News on Wednesday.
The FIR accuses Khan, Bushra Bibi, Shahzad Akbar, Zulfi Bukhari, and Farah Gogi of creating counterfeit receipts and engaging in fraudulent activities.
The allegations include submitting fake receipts to facilitate the sale of Toshakhana gifts, allegedly using a forged signature for the transactions.
According to the FIR, a local watch dealer, who filed the complaint, claims that investigations uncovered false receipts created in his name, using a forged letterhead from his shop to sell Toshakhana items.
“The accused attempted to harm my business’s reputation by generating fake invoices for Toshakhana gifts,” the complainant stated in the FIR.
The case relates to accusations that the former Prime Minister did not disclose details of the gifts he retained from Toshakhana during his time in office, following a complaint filed by lawmakers from the ruling coalition last year.
