The Turkish embassy in the United States has received a magnificent $30 million donation from an unnamed Pakistani donor for the earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria.
The Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, used Twitter to convey his intense feelings for the generous act, calling it “beautiful” and a victory of humanity against obstacles.
In a separate act of solidarity, PM Shehbaz called Hussain Arnous, the prime minister of Syria, to offer his sincere condolences for the loss of lives and property.
He also mentioned that Pakistan had already sent out its first shipment of aid and that more supplies would be coming in by air and land.
At the request of the Turkish government, more than 200 tonnes of relief supplies, including tents, were supplied to help the afflicted population in Turkey. The action is intended to bring comfort to the countless numbers of those impacted by the earthquake and the severe winter weather.
In addition, medical professionals from the Pakistan Army, the NDMA, and Rescue 1122 were dispatched to the earthquake-stricken nations to assist with rescue and relief activities.
