A special court in Islamabad on Tuesday approved two petitions submitted by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, allowing him to speak with his children and receive a medical check-up.
The ruling came from Special Judge Central FIA, Shah Rukh Arjumand, who granted both of Khan’s requests after reviewing the petitions presented by his legal team.
Imran’s lawyers, Usman Riaz Gill and Zaheer Abbas, appeared in court for the hearing. Advocate Gill argued that although a previous order had allowed for a medical check-up, it should now be conducted by Khan’s personal medical team under the supervision of prison staff.
He also requested that monthly health check-ups be ensured moving forward.
Zaheer Abbas noted that earlier examinations had been carried out under Islamabad High Court’s direction. The legal team emphasized that Khan’s right to healthcare and family communication should be protected.
Following the arguments, the court ruled in Khan’s favour, directing jail authorities to facilitate a phone call between him and his children.
Additionally, it ordered that his personal doctors perform a medical check-up, with a compliance report to be submitted by April 28.
Imran Khan, who remains in custody amid ongoing legal proceedings, has consistently voiced concerns over limited contact with his family and issues related to his health.
