The Punjab Health Department has reported 172 new dengue fever cases in the province within the past 24 hours, with Rawalpindi accounting for the bulk at 157 cases, according to local media. The latest data shows that Lahore recorded eight new cases, while Jhelum reported two.

Gujranwala, Chakwal, Attock, Sargodha, and Okara each confirmed one case. Over the past week, Punjab has seen a total of 904 dengue infections, raising the annual count for 2024 to 3,771 cases.

In response to the growing outbreak, the health department assured the public that sufficient measures are in place to curb the spread of the virus, and all public hospitals across the province are well-stocked with necessary medicines.

The department has issued a strong advisory urging the public to keep their surroundings clean and dry to reduce the risk of dengue transmission. Citizens are encouraged to cooperate with health teams actively working to control the outbreak.
