The 2023 Asia Cup is expected to begin on August 30 with Pakistan hosting the match and playing Nepal at the Multan Cricket Stadium. There was a lot of discussion about whether India would go to Pakistan for the continental competition, but it was ultimately decided that the India matches would be played at a neutral site with Sri Lanka acting as co-host of the competition with Pakistan. However, a photo of the India jersey with the word “Pakistan” scrawled on it has now gone viral on social media.
The Indian team might very well be noticed wearing the jersey, even though the news could not be independently verified.
This is due to the need that teams to wear the Asia Cup symbol and the name of the hosts, which is still officially Pakistan even though the games will be played in Sri Lanka and Pakistan, with all of the India matches taking place on the island nation.
For Asia Cup 2023, the eagerly anticipated India-Pakistan encounter is slated to take place at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on September 2. As many as three matches between India and Pakistan could be played as part of this competition. The first match between IND and PAK would take place in Group A, but they might also play each other in the semifinals and finals.
If it takes place, India vs. Pakistan would play in the Super Four on September 10 at Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium. A week later, on September 17, the final match will be held there.
All matches in Pallekele will begin at 1 p.m. (IST), whereas games in Colombo are set to begin at 2 p.m. (IST). The Bangladesh vs. Afghanistan game in Lahore will start at 01:30 pm (IST), while the tournament opener in Multan will be at 3:30 pm (IST). The first kickoff for the two remaining Lahore matches is at 3:30 PM (IST).
