Google is upgrading its Gmail service by launching the “Help me write” feature for web users.
This new tool is designed to simplify email drafting, allowing users to easily create new emails or edit existing ones.
When users open a blank email draft in Gmail, a prompt will appear, inviting them to use the “Help me write” feature.
This is similar to what mobile users already experience. However, this AI-powered tool is only accessible to subscribers of Google One AI Premium or those with the Gemini add-on for Google Workspace.
The “Help me write” feature not only helps users create email drafts but also provides suggestions to formalize, expand, or condense messages, making it especially helpful for enhancing the professionalism of emails or saving time when writing.
Additionally, Google is introducing a “polish” shortcut for drafts containing more than 12 words. Users can quickly refine their drafts by clicking the shortcut or using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + H, enabling swift improvements to email clarity and professionalism.
On mobile devices, the current “Refine my draft” shortcut will be replaced with the new “polish” option, which will automatically refine the message with a swipe. Users can make additional edits with Google’s other AI tools as needed.
The rollout of the “Help me write” feature and the “polish” shortcut begins today, with availability expanding gradually over the next few days.
With Gemini AI integrated into Gmail, users can look forward to a more streamlined email drafting experience.
