The federal government has introduced key changes to the Civil Servants Promotion Rules, 1973, following approval from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
To put the changes into effect, the Establishment Division has issued a Statutory Regulatory Order (SRO).
Civil employees who want to be transferred to Grade 22 would only be given two chances to be considered under the new regulations.
They will no longer be eligible and will retire at their present grade if they are unable to get a promotion on both occasions.
A notification about the changes has been published in Pakistan’s Gazette. Meanwhile, the promotion of 36 senior government officers from BS-21 to BS-22 has been accepted by an influential selection board.
The officers are members of the Foreign Service of Pakistan (FSP), Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), and Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS). Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar presided over the board’s 29th meeting, which recommended promotions for nine FSP officers, eight PSP officers, and 19 PAS officers.
This meeting was held in the Committee Room of the Establishment Division rather than the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, in contrast to earlier ones.
Ahad Khan Cheema, the minister for establishment, Khawaja Asif, the minister of defense, and the secretaries of the Cabinet and Establishment divisions were among the other important attendees.
