Haris Rauf hurt in tri-nation series opener

Haris Rauf has been nominated for the November 2024 ICC Player of the Month award.

After only 6.2 overs, pacer Haris Rauf had to leave the field because of an ankle injury.

In the first game of the Tri-Nation ODI series against New Zealand, Pakistan’s bowling attack suffered a serious setback when star pacer Haris Rauf was forced to leave the field after just 6.2 overs because of an ankle injury.

After the second ball of the 37th over, Rauf, who had been playing well, showing pace and control, started to have ankle pain.

Rauf touched his hip after making the delivery and seemed to be in agony before leaving the field before the physio arrived. There was a noticeable void in Pakistan’s bowling lineup due to his early departure.

Reports indicate that Rauf twisted his ankle, causing him to abandon his remaining overs, however, the precise form and extent of the injuries are still unknown.

Rauf’s remaining over was completed by Salman Ali Agha, but the team and supporters will be eagerly awaiting word on the pacer’s health.

Since Rauf’s health is essential to Pakistan’s hopes of winning the Champions Trophy, his injury clouds the team’s preparations for the forthcoming competition.

Pakistan is very concerned about his absence, especially because the ICC Champions Trophy begins on February 19—just over a week from now. With opener Saim Ayub already out of the tournament due to injury, the team cannot afford another setback.

Glenn Phillips’ brilliant century helped New Zealand, who chose to bat after winning the toss, compile a formidable 331/6 in their 50 overs.

Phillips led the visitors to a solid total with a blazing 106 off 74 balls.
