Lt Gen (Retd) Nigar Johar Khan has been named the brand ambassador for women empowerment and related initiatives by the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI).
The announcement was made during an event titled SHE Leads – A Tribute to Women, held at RCCI’s Chamber House on Monday.
Nigar Johar, Pakistan’s first and only woman to attain the rank of three-star general, was the chief guest at the ceremony.
During the event, RCCI President Usman Shaukat commended Johar’s trailblazing military career, describing it as one marked by courage and breaking barriers. “She serves as a symbol of inspiration and hope,” he said.
Group Leader Sohail Altaf reiterated RCCI’s commitment to inclusive development, noting that events like SHE Leads highlight the critical role of women in national advancement.
In her keynote speech, Nigar Johar applauded RCCI’s efforts to promote women’s participation, stating, “It is vital to create opportunities for women to lead, grow, and shape the future.”
She also expressed support for RCCI’s upcoming solidarity walk for Palestine, which will include participation from the Palestinian ambassador.
Originally from Swabi, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Nigar Johar joined the Army Medical College in 1981 and graduated in 1985.
She eventually became the colonel commandant of the Army Medical Corps, becoming the highest-ranking female officer in Pakistan Army history.
