Mashal was fired after speaking out against Bushra Bibi’s conduct at the PTI rally in November.
The wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi’s former spokesman Mashal Yousafzai, was fired from her role as Special Assistant to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
According to Express News, the Chief Minister’s Secretariat confirmed her dismissal in a notification.
Mashal Yousafzai confirmed the news, saying that her recent interview with a private news channel was the reason for her dismissal.
Mashal Yousafzai disclosed in the interview the reasons for Bushra Bibi’s choice to travel to D-Chowk for the PTI demonstration on November 24.
She explained that they didn’t communicate for two days after Bushra Bibi returned from the rally because of a stampede.
Mashal Yousafzai disclosed that Bushra Bibi frequently referred to her husband, Imran Khan, ordering the march to D-Chowk during the demonstration.
She also verified that Bushra Bibi’s visibility was significantly reduced due to chemical damage to the glass in her car.
They changed her route to Mansehra despite recommendations to switch cars and proceed to the protest site. Having been on the ground, I can attest that Maryam Watoo, Bushra Bibi’s sister, was not with her,” Mashal Yousafzai continued.
In April of this year, Mishal Yousafzai was charged with violating the K-P government’s austerity policy by asking the Department of Social Welfare, Women Development, and Zakat to buy a car for her and the secretary.
Rumors of resignation are rampant as the PTI is in turmoil.
Ali Amin Gandapur, the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), has allegedly volunteered to step down as the province president of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), following harsh criticism of the top party leadership for a disastrous march on D-Chowk in Islamabad earlier this week.
Senior party leaders, including Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan, Information Secretary Waqas Akram, National Assembly Opposition Leader Omar Ayub, and others, attended the PTI’s Political Committee’s post-protest assessment meeting on Thursday at the Chief Minister House in Peshawar.
Bushra Bibi, the wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, who led the protest march from K-P to D-Chowk from November 24–26, was reportedly invited to the meeting as well but chose not to take part in the party’s discussions.
When the imprisoned PTI founder issued the “final call” for the protest march to demand his release on November 13, there were high hopes that the PTI leadership would show up, descend on the federal capital, and remain there until their demand was met.
The workers had hoped that the leadership would devise a new plan this time to accomplish the goals, but it all ended in a nightmare, with many leaders failing to show up and those who were in the march leaving as soon as the police began to crack down.
According to reports, the meeting in Peshawar, which followed harsh criticism of the party’s senior leadership, covered the circumstances following the Islamabad demonstration, the potential for governor’s rule in K-P, where the PTI was in power, and the next steps.
