Muhammad Rizwan and Abdullah Shafique scored a superb century as the Green Shirts successfully chased down the huge 345-run goal.
The 1992 champions reached the finish line in 48.2 overs after chasing a daunting 345 after Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama hit tons to give Sri Lanka a dominant position. Rizwan scored 131 runs without being out while Abdullah got 113.
With 329 runs against England in the 2011 World Cup, Ireland held the previous record for the largest run chase.
