Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned Israel on Wednesday for hindering the operations of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in the occupied Palestinian Territory, describing it as a “clear violation of international humanitarian law and the UN Charter.”
His comments, shared on the social media platform X, came after reports that Israeli authorities had seized land in East Jerusalem—home to UNRWA’s headquarters—to construct 1,440 settlement units, which are considered illegal under international law.
Sharif stated, “By obstructing essential relief efforts for millions of vulnerable Palestinians, Israel is committing yet another flagrant breach of international humanitarian law and the UN Charter, for which the global community must hold it accountable.”
The ongoing conflict in Gaza has led to heavy casualties, with Palestinian health authorities reporting that over 13,300 children have been confirmed dead.
Health officials warn that additional lives are at risk as Gaza’s healthcare system falters and shortages of food and clean water worsen conditions on the ground.
