Punjab Declares the Reopening Date of Lahore and Multan Schools

The Punjab government has announced that schools in Lahore and Multan will reopen tomorrow.

Environment Department Director General Imran Hamid Sheikh issued a notification confirming the resumption of classes from November 20, after a temporary closure caused by hazardous air quality in these cities.

Schools will operate under strict safety protocols to protect health and well-being.

Key Measures:

  • Timings: Schools will start no earlier than 8:45 AM.
  • Masks: Students and teachers are required to wear masks during school hours.
  • Outdoor Activities: All outdoor sports and co-curricular events will remain suspended.

The Environment Department has urged school administrations to enforce these guidelines to minimize the impact of smog and air pollution on students and staff.

Earlier this week, the Punjab government announced the reopening of schools in districts outside Lahore and Multan, citing improvements in the smog situation.

Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb reaffirmed the government’s commitment to balancing educational needs with health concerns.

She thanked the public for their cooperation in addressing severe smog levels and emphasized that the safety of children remains the top priority.
