Saud Shakeel creates a unique world record in Test cricket

Pakistan’s 28-year-old left-handed batsman, Saud Shakeel, has made history in Test cricket by setting a unique world record.

In the opening Test at Perth, chasing a target of 450 runs, Shan Masood XI was dismissed for just 89 runs against Australia. In their pursuit, the visitors surrendered meekly, with Lyon taking 2-18, and Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood securing three wickets each.

Shakeel achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the first batsman in Test history to score 20 or more runs in 15 consecutive innings right from the beginning of his career in red-ball cricket.

This historic achievement occurred during Pakistan’s second innings in the Perth Test, which they lost by 360 runs. This exceptional feat surpasses the previous record held by Sir Everton Weekes, who managed a streak of 14 innings.

Earlier this year, Saud Shakeel had reached his seventh half-century on the third day of the second Test between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Colombo.

This accomplishment made Shakeel the first batsman in Test history to score a fifty in each of the first seven Tests.
