Shadab Khan corrects journalist over calling Babar Azam ‘former captain’

In the PSL 8 post-match conference on Thursday, Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan chastised a reporter for referring to Peshawar Zalmi and Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam as the former captain.

During the upcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in Sharjah, Babar has been rested along with Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi. In Babar’s absence, Shadab Khan will be in charge of a young team.

“The current Pakistani captain, Babar Azam, is now taking a break (for the Afghanistan series). I am as his Wazir, and he is our King. King is taking a break, so the Wazir is continuing the series without him “explained Shadab.

Thursday’s Elimination 1 match between Zalmi and United at the Gaddafi Stadium saw Zalmi successfully defend 183 thanks to some outstanding middle- and death-over speed bowling from Salman Irshad and Aamir Jamal.

Islamabad United’s HBL Pakistan Super League 8 season has come to an end as a result of the loss, and Peshawar Zalmi will take on Lahore Qalandars in Eliminator 2 on Friday.

After his side was inserted, Babar Azam hit a brilliant 39-ball 64 that included 10 fours. His fifth half-century of the present edition was this one. With 480 runs at an average of 53.33 and a strike rate of 148.60, Babar has finally amassed his total.
