T20 World Cup: Who will reach into the semis if the match gets washed out

Written by

Two teams from Group 2 have already clinched spots in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup Super 8 stage, while India is in a strong position to advance from Group One.

The race for the remaining semi-final spot in Group One is highly competitive, with only one team among Australia, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan set to advance.

A crucial match between Australia and India is scheduled for 7:30 pm today. However, weather forecasts predict a 70% chance of rain during the game, with another forecast suggesting 3.5 mm of rainfall.

If the match is rained out, both teams will be awarded one point each. This outcome will see India advance to the semi-finals and eliminate Australia.

The result of the match between Afghanistan and Bangladesh will then decide the next semi-finalist based on the superior run rate. Australia’s recent defeat to Afghanistan has significantly damaged their chances of advancing.

In Group 1, all teams have played two matches each. India has won both, securing a commanding position. Australia and Afghanistan each have one win, while Bangladesh has lost both matches.
