The ICC Men’s Champions Trophy is set to make a long-awaited comeback next month after an eight-year break since its last edition in 2017.
A new promotional video featuring Pakistan cricket legend Wasim Akram pays homage to the iconic ‘white jackets’ and invites fans to embark on an exciting journey as eight teams put it “All On The Line” in this prestigious tournament.
Running from February 19 to March 9, the tournament will feature 15 thrilling matches over 19 days. The eight participating teams will be divided into two groups for the opening stage, with each team playing three group-stage matches. The top two teams from each group will then advance to the semifinals.
The ICC highlights the high-stakes nature of the event, where every match is decisive. Teams will vie not only for the coveted Champions Trophy but also for the legendary white jacket—an emblem of ultimate cricketing greatness and resilience.
The white jacket symbolizes a champion’s relentless pursuit of excellence and serves as a mark of honor for those who achieve cricketing glory.
In the promotional video, Wasim Akram, whose illustrious career spanned three decades, speaks about the jacket’s significance.
He describes it as a symbol of the journey to victory, saying, “The ICC Men’s Champions Trophy represents the best of the best.”
He adds, “Winning the jacket means putting everything on the line for glory. This tournament will showcase the strongest team emerging victorious, as every game will be a high-pressure battle with no room for rest.”
